Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of our most frequently asked questions about our termination payments review service. If you have a question that's not answered here, please email us at info@irishtaxhub.ie.

Our service reviews your termination or redundancy payment, calculates the correct tax liability, and checks whether you're entitled to any reliefs that could reduce the amount of tax you owe — all for a fixed fee of €299.

The review is a fixed, all-inclusive fee of €299. There are no hidden charges — this covers the full review, relief assessment, tax calculation, and a consultation call.

It's ideal for anyone who has received (or is about to receive) a termination payment, redundancy lump sum, or ex-gratia payment and wants to understand how much tax applies and whether any reliefs are available.

Not necessarily. Statutory redundancy is fully exempt from tax. For other lump sums, part may be tax-free depending on your years of service, salary, and eligibility for reliefs. Our review calculates exactly how much, if any, is taxable.

The three main reliefs are the Basic Exemption (€10,160 plus €765 per complete year of service), the Increased Exemption (an additional €10,000 where no tax-free lump sum pension has been received), and Standard Capital Superannuation Benefit (SCSB). We assess which relief gives you the best outcome.

Statutory redundancy is the minimum amount your employer must pay under employment law — it's completely tax-free. An ex-gratia payment is anything paid above that statutory amount and may be subject to income tax, USC, and PRSI depending on the reliefs available.

Typically we need your termination agreement or letter, a breakdown of the payment (statutory redundancy, ex-gratia, pay in lieu of notice, etc.), your start date and leaving date, and details of any pension lump sums received or expected.

We aim to complete your review within 3 working days of receiving your documents. You'll also get a consultation call to walk through the results.

Yes — after we review your termination payment, if you're not satisfied with the clarity, accuracy, or value of the review, just let us know and we'll refund you in full. No forms, no fuss.

Simply click "Checkout & Pay" to place your secure order. Once payment is processed, we'll send you a simple document request and have your review completed within 3 working days.

Yes. Statutory redundancy — calculated as two weeks' pay per year of service plus one bonus week (capped at €600 per week) — is completely exempt from Income Tax, USC, and PRSI.

Statutory redundancy is exempt from USC. However, the taxable portion of any ex-gratia or enhanced redundancy payment is subject to both Income Tax and USC at your marginal rates.

Since 2011, the total of all tax-free exemptions and reliefs applied to termination payments across your lifetime is capped at €200,000. Any amount above this is subject to Income Tax and USC through PAYE.
